IRC log started Wed Nov 24 00:00:01 1999 u are not suppose to add directories to the bin dir Why not? [msg(TUNES)] permlog 1999.1124 THen I link /usr/bin/bochs to /usr/local/bochs/bochs eihrul: help me out here shrug... i don't fix my system i just fix the makefile :P oh ya u run all binaries inside the source code, i forgot I don't understand one bit why files are the places they are in Linux It makes -1 sense air: Yes, I don't like that yoo: help me out here Eh? abi, wanna give air a hand? wish i knew, lar1 How about you TUNES? yoo: tell him where he should install it :) bochs? it has been said that bochs is a PC emulator at http://www.bochs.com that runs on win32, un*x, beos, mac, os/2 and amiga -:- SignOff eihrul: #TUNES ([x]chat) bochs is capable of running standalone the only thing it needs are the vga font and the roms So, I would install the font wherever, put the roms in /usr/local/share/bochs, and put the binary as /usr/local/bin/bochs ya but what directory should it be installed in Ok, fine I won't install it, I will just add the source directory to my path? thats ok as well But yoos way of installing is quite elecant no it isnt u should untar all source to /usr/src and then u should install it somewhere in the system depending on what it is no you should stick the source in /usr/local/src I put the source in my home /usr/src is not gaurunteed to be safe against system upgrades The general rule of thumb, though, is this: Source in /usr/local/src, architecture-independant-files in /usr/local/share/packagename, architecture-dependant-files in /usr/local/lib, configuration files in /usr/local/etc, and binaries in /usr/local/bin. Man pages in /usr/local/share/man or /usr/local/man, depending on OS, and the same with info pages. And with that I'm gonna take off and do something slightly more productive 12:10am no share is crap I am just going to do shcool work share is not part of the old way uh was someone in here looking for executor? share is the proper OS-independant-as-long-as-somewhat-unix-like directory for architecture-independant files. air: Do you have it? yes air: I wasn't but I will take it if you have it Anyway Later. -:- SignOff yoo: #TUNES (Leaving) 4meg Ouch Umm FTP? also have mathematica and motif What matheamtica do? and lots of other linux warez get real I am real u honestly dont know what mathematica is? Its like mathcad, no? like? mathcad is like it but mathematica is a billion times better and only 12meg Ok plus u need motif 2 which is 5meg Motif is a wm? but motif 2 is handy for all those motif apps and widget set this is motif the widget set not mwm What else you got? it might have mwm but u dont need to use it bru its a backup program crisp maple Whats crisp and maple? photoshop for the mac Thats not Linux run executor :) there is no reason to have executor if u aint got any mac warez to run on it :) Heh You don't have AccelX for the laptop do you? i have no idea what crisp is no but i have ax2,3 and 4 Where did you get all this? the files are dated may 97 the site is most likely dead 12:20am atleast its name has died from my memory Heh i have lots of files in there, dont know what any of them are just grabbed em all Bored one night? crap its 2am again i havent been to work before noon in weeks Heh What time are you supposed to be there? 7am They don't care you are 4 hrs late? im the boss Oh, well then do i care if they care?
